Comment threads are now available on all Chapter24 blogs!
As I promised when Chapter24 launched, all Chapter24 blogs now allow readers to comment on posts. It's super simple for people to comment on posts; no need to create an account or login or any nonsense like that. They just fill in their name, email and comment and they're good to go!
The comments are organised as "threads" so conversations are easier to follow. Here's what a comment thread looks like:
As a blog owner, you'll receive daily email notifications about new comments on your posts (though you can turn these off if you like!).
If your posts have new comments, you'll see a green notification badge in the top corner of your blog's management panel. Clicking this will show you a consolidated view of all your new comments and their posts so you can efficiently reply (or ignore) them.
You can also view the comments for individual posts. The icon will be green if there are unread comments and brown if you're up to date.
You'll have complete control over the comments that appear on your blog. This is how you'll see a new comment on one of your posts:
You can ignore the comment by marking it as "read"; or reply to it which will also automatically mark it as read. You also have the option to delete any comment that appears on your blog. So if you think any comment is inappropriate, you can just delete it.
If you'd rather not allow comments, you can disable them either for individual posts or an entire blog.
That's pretty much all there is to it! Hopefully the system is simple enough to encourage a good amount of engagement on your blog.
To conclude: for the first time, let me know what you think in the comments!
